Winter in the NW is off and running! I know jhuber went skiing last weekend, but it looked a wee bit bare. All of a sudden, there is snow everywhere.

Man I am STOKED for skiing. I haven't been this excited for a season since the last year I put in 60 days.
We're talking 8 year old 3 days before christmas stoked. I'm just sitting around the house, waxing the skis, checking over the gear, praying they get OR 35 fixed, looking at pics, wha! Maybe I can channel this energy into something useful tonight at the track. I don't know. |

We have TEN INCHES in the mountains here. Guess where my tele skis and I are going tomorrow? I'll give you a hint: it's not to the track!

This season is ON!!
Some early AM skiing at Timberline. Let's just say it is nice to have this first one out of the way. Like your first 5k of the season it only gets better and faster (for the climb anyway!)

Indeed, off and running!
Beautiful day. First 2600' vertical of year. Diep is going to keep a running total of feet climbed this year... |

Awesome work Win and Diep!! I like the F1s and Whippet Win! Nice Superloops Diep!
We were in the same parking lot on Saturday! I was in White River with a whole gaggle of people poking around. We got some sweet views of the White River DESTRUCTION. Looks like lots of snow in our forecast. The snow level is low enough I'm thinking SkiBowl might be good for some easy skinning on Friday or this weekend as long as they don't open. |

Hmm skinning at skibowl this weekend. I definitely want to get out somewhere on Fri and/or Sat especially now since its looking like a dump today and through the week. |

Ity was real icy up high, say above the top of magic mile. But we were able to find some hard, non-ice snow surface up there which was carveable to come down on. Otherwise it was skiing down the cat track, which wasn't that bad, just narrow. Lower on the mountain there was nice soft snow, not champagne but good skiing. I was cruising all over the place and don't have to get out my ptex candles yet so there is decent coverage.
It looks like a lot of snow coming down this week so conditions should improve, depending on how much it blows around up high. So, not awesome skiing but good enough especially for early season and just getting back out. |

I've been xc a couple times this Thankgiving weekend, about 18" of snow just 4 miles West of my house, I have a couple inches on the ground here, I guess that's gonna change in the next few hours.
