The popular "Saturday Mornings on the Grass" runs are returning this year, starting the Saturday after Labor Day. The goal is to prep for cross-country, preview the race courses (other than Strawberry Island, which is too far away for a training run), and, as always, have fun.
All sessions start at 9 am, warmed up and ready for strides. Routes will be long loops (often 2K) with pace changes marked by colored soccer cones.
The schedule is subject to change, mostly related to vagaries of the weather, but here is the tentative schedule. Please check in for possible changes in location.
Sept 14 -- Lents Park. Meet near the SE entrance to the Pickles baseball field.
Sept 21--RACE, Lents Park
Sept 28--TBD. This could be a return to Sellwood or Mary S, or a course we've never done before, if a suitable one emerges.
Oct 5--Mary S. Young. Meet in "upper" overflow parking lot.
Oct 12--RACE--Mary S. Young.
Oct 19--RACE--Strawberry Island
Oct. 26--TBD. This could be a return to Sellwood or Mary S. Young, or a course we've never done before, if a suitable one emerges.
Nov 2--Pier Park. Meet near traffic circle on south side of park.
Nov 9--RACE, Pier Park
Nov. 16--Fernhill Park. Meet on the west side of the track.
Nov 23--RACE, Fernhill
Nov 30--TBD. Weather permitting, this will be a course designed to mimic Lehigh, for those going to nationals. Meet on north side, though this is a small park where we will see each other. Workout will be a taper workout on its all-weather surface.
Dec. 7--Wilshire Park.
