For those who love our Labor Day adventures and like to plan ahead, I haven't forgotten about Labor Day.  Just throwing out an option here, but I would love to head up to The Enchantments in north-central Washington.  It is probably the equivalent of the Wallowas in terms of popularity, but the beauty of day-trips into the wilderness is that we avoid all of the permit lottery craziness.

All you need to do is google "Enchantments" to get a glimpse of this beautiful area, or I will save you a step and post one of the many links with photos and info:

http://www.cleverhik...ckpacking-guide

Or you can always visit the boring Forest Service site for info:

https://www.fs.usda....=fsbdev3_053607

The general details:

About 5 hour drive to Leavenworth

There is a string of forest service campgrounds along Icicle Creek Road, with Eightmile and Bridge Creek being the 2 closest to the primary trailheads leading into the Enchantments

Due to popularity and the drive distance, we would probably want to do similar timing to what we have done for the Wallowas - head over on Wed to secure sites

If we did a Wed-Mon trip, that would give us 4 full days there (Thurs-Sun) to run and explore

If we do this, there will be at least one epicly long day, since I would love to do the 19-mile point-to-point route that climbs up and over Aasgard Pass.  Although I suspect most of the trails we run will provide plenty of climbing (similar to the Wallowas), although scenery that is equally as great.

Thoughts?  Interest?

I definitely want to run the Enchantments sometime this summer (the 19 mile point to point). If that run was on a weekend day, I'd likely try to join for atleast some of the trip.

I'll keep lurking on this thread.  I might be able to join for the 19 miler if it ends up being the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I would just meet you at the trail.

Waiting to get a yes or no, if a friend from out of state will be visiting that weekend.  If no, I'm in.
Have never been there but have been wanting to, for many years.

I think Matt & I are in barring no injuries which seem to arise whenever we actually have a race or fun activity on the horizon

After last weekend, I think you 2 are done with pre-event injuries.  Glad you got those out of your system so you are clear for Labor Day this year.

BTW, how are you feeling?  Hoping it was just a bruise and you are already back to normal.

I'm definitely interested! I'll see if I can get the time off of work for that stretch.

Theresa and I are in. I've never had a chance to see the Cascades north of Mt St Helens so I'm super excited!

I thought I saw a recent post from Torrey about this year's adventure, but I can't find it now. Marianne and I are definitely interested, especially since it is a shorter drive for us than for the rest of you. Any further specifics available at this time?
