We are back again this year as the official pace teams for the Vancouver USA Marathon & Half-Marathon! Below are the details for this year. Please read carefully.

The date is Sunday, June 21, 2015Full marathon starts at 7:00amhalf-marathon starts at 9:00am. Their website is here: http://www.vancouver...on.com/?pg=home

If you've been part of the pace teams for Portland or Vancouver before, you know how fun and rewarding it is. If not, now is your chance to see what the hype is all about. Whether it is helping a runner attain their Boston Marathon qualifying time, a certain time goal they might have, or simply help them complete their first marathon, this is one of THE MOST REWARDING things you'll ever do as a runner. Below are the details I have at this point regarding this opportunity. Please re-visit this thread for the latest news and updates.

IMPORTANT - IF YOU CHOOSE TO APPLY FOR ONE OF THE SLOTS BELOW, I NEED THE FOLLOWING FROM YOU:

1. Which pace group and which half (if the full marathon)?
2. Your unisex tech shirt size?
3. Your contact info (email, cell number)? You can PM this to me if you don't feel comfortable posting it here.
4. You WILL need to register at the VUM website with a 100% discount code I will be distributing later.

PRIORITY FOR PACE TEAM PARTICIPANTS IS GIVEN TO CURRENT, PAID TRL MEMBERS FIRST!

What will I get out of pacing you might ask? Well, in addition to the satisfaction of helping many runners have fun and achieve their goals, we offer the following:

- a short-sleeved, technical fabric, well sought after Red Lizard
pacers shirt
- the appreciation and gratitude you will get from many fellow runners for helping them meet their goals

- admission to the post-race party and beer garden

What is required from you as a
pace group leader?

- the willingness and ability to run at least 13.1 miles at the goal
pace for your group. You can certainly run farther if you'd like, all the way up to the full 26.2 mile distance. But we would like to have at least two group leaders per pace group (one doing the first half and the other person doing the second half). For the half-marathon, we're looking for ONE pacer to go that whole distance.

- the willingness and ability to motivate the runners in your group along the way. Communication with your group is extremely important.

- the willingness and ability to attend ONE
Pace Group Team meeting which will be held approximately one week before the event. Location and time TBA.

- the willingness to spend some time at the TRL
Pace Group booth at the Vancouver USA Marathon expo, held at Esther Short Park the weekend of the race, answering questions from participants, etc.

I will update this post with more information as time goes on, so please check back periodically. In the meantime, to get the ball rolling, at the end of this post is a listing of the
pace groups we'd like to fill for 2015.

Please reply to this thread or PM me or e-mail me with the group you feel you can realistically lead, whether you prefer the first or second half and your shirt size. INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT INFO (email & phone #). I'll do my best to accommodate all requests but ask for a little flexibility on your part as well.

Thank you in advance for helping us continue the excellent tradition our club has as Marathon
pacers!

Alyssa Tower posted on the facebook thread that she would be interested in pacing.  Here is her comment:

I have never pace and would love to try it! I not a Lizard but can sign up again if necessar. I'm interested in pacing half marathon (second half sounds more fun!) pace can be 8-830 pace. I bet these paces go fast.

I'll do the 1:30 half again.

I'd prefer to wear a singlet as opposed to a tech tee. Is that an option? Medium singlet or small tech tee.

Tim,
We have a full group to fill the 4:45 group. Beth Carter and Colleen Beretta will pace the first half. Kirsty Hall and I will pace the second half.

We'll send you e-mail addresses and shirt sizes by PM.

I am going to withdraw. Based on my day at Portland R n R yesterday, 1:30 is no longer an "easy" effort for me.

Dave,

Would you be interested in taking one half of the 3:15 marathon group? That's 7:26/mile, which I'm sure is very doable for you.

I could use the help. Please let me know.

Just wanted to confirm that I will be pacing the second half of the Full at 10:52 pace with Stacey. This will be my first time as a pacer. It looks like she already gave my pacing tee size as Sm, which sounds correct I'm guessing!

Tim, I'll go ahead and PM you with my deets so you can include me in info about the pre-run meeting etc.

I'll also need the registration code to actually register for the event as a pacer on the VUM site. I'm sure you can include that to me in your reply.

Many thanks! Kirsty
