Starting this thread as a place to dicuss the upcoming Olympic Trials for track & field. Post predictions, discuss races/results, etc.

First up, who's going down to watch? If so, which days and where are you sitting? Maybe we can coordinate runs, food/drink, etc.

We're going for the whole thing. We'll be living in Eugene from tomorrow through July 1st. Our seats are in section D in the west grandstand, although I plan to move to section A or B when those look empty.

Feel free to call me if you're going and want to meet up.

(Three 6 oh) eight ate too - fore 5 nine won

THE OLDER I GET, THE BETTER I WAS.

I'm there for the duration, as press. Just sent out 10 story pitches. May some come through!

Press pass lets me use any unoccupied seat (but gives me none of my own). If there's a vacant one by you, give me a text at (gulp) 702-5434, old PDX area code. I do need access to the press tent, which is on the West Side right near the finish, where all competitor run the guantlet of reporters after their events. You leave the Trials in only two ways: ambulance, or through the press tent.

I'm in section J tomorrow as well, and so is Becky, and Larry, I think.
We carry on an esthetic flirtation with the result

I watched the women's hammer finals at Nike (see animation below). Does that count?

I was there too but I missed you Joe. It was the best hammer throw competition I've ever seen.

If leaving out the area code doesn't throw off the bots, transposing the 4 and 5 probably will. ;-)
I could dig deeper..., but then I'd be further in a hole.

anyone know, do you have to have cable to watch tonight's track races? I wanted to watch on-line, but this doesn't look real promising:

the cool thing about pre classic is I could watch any race later on demand on-line. I'm not seeing that option for the track Trials.

I miss over-the-air Universal Sports. But I knew it was too good to last :(

I was checking that out earlier today too. It looks like you have to sign in with your tv provider. Bummer for those of us who don't have a tv provider!

You know, I am a pretty lucky guy. Spent all of Friday sitting in section B, right above the finish line, with Lisa and my buddy Meb. You know, the guy that won the silver medal in the marathon at the Athens Olympics and who recently won our Olympic Marathon trials. Got to spend hours hanging out and chatting with him.

Then this morning, met him for a run on Pre's trails. Life is GOOD. :-)

Needless to say, both 10ks yesterday were scintillating. So glad to see Ritz get a place on the team AND get the Olympic A standard. Also, very happy to see Amy Hastings win her race and make the team. And quite the drama with her winning, because if that other gal (Rogers?) had won, since she did not have the A standard, she would have been THE ONLY one to go to London on the 10k team!

THE OLDER I GET, THE BETTER I WAS.

PROUD TO BE A PAFAR!
