Hi Tim. I want to participate again this year but I can't say when my heel will let me train hard. I might be in 2:50 shape or 3:50 shape by race-day. Please put me on the list and I'll be a second pacer for some group.

Aaron - I WILL be calling you that morning to make sure you arer out of bed and on the start line I was wondering when you'd get around to grabbing that. Is the second half okay or do you want to take the first half as well in case Mr. Coe doesn't show? -------------------- THE OLDER I GET, THE BETTER I WAS.

If someone else feels like running that pace, I'm willing to double up. And if no one else wants to join in on the fun, I'll run part 2 solo. |

Tim, I'm injured again, and while I do anticipate being back in October, I don't want to push things and would like to tentatively back away from the pacing. So, finding another person for the 3:00 group is probably a good idea. Or, just have Torrey start at mile six and run the rest of the way; I heard that works pretty well, too...

I noticed that the Portland Marathon website has a link to Oregonlive.com that lists the 2008 pacers in the "Meet the Pacers" section. Is there a plan to update it with our current pacers?

Hello TRL! I have been out of the mix for a while. I am willing to volunteer as a pacer if you need an extra or a replacement. 3:30-4:00 would be a comfortable, chatty pace. Steve Trautwein asked me to assist with the race start so a second-half group would be ideal. Thank you.

I'm available to help with the pacers ... preferably 2nd half with pace somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00 miles. Looks like the slots are full, but if any need alternates or have other needs faster (down to 8:00 is OK, and up to 10:00 I suppose), let me know. Thanks Lizards! - Garrett 503.203.2695
In keeping with the tradition over the past many years, TRL will once again be providing the official pace group leaders for the 2010 Portland Marathon which is on 10/10/2010. Again this year, I am the Red Lizard member in charge of coordinating this effort. But we all know this couldn't happen at all without the enthusiastic help of those that lead the hundreds of runners in the race to very important goals they have set for themselves, whether it be qualifying for Boston or simply improving their previous best time. What will I get out of pacing the marathon you might ask? Well, in addition to the satisfaction of helping many runners have fun and achieve their goals, we offer the following: - a short-sleeved, technical fabric, well sought after Red Lizard pacers shirt - a long-sleeved, special edition Portland Marathon shirt - the appreciation and gratitude you will get from many fellow runners for helping them meet their goals What is required from you as a pace group leader? - the willingness and ability to run at least 13.1 miles the goal pace for your group. You can certainly run farther if you'd like, all the way up to the full 26.2 mile distance. But we would like to have at least two group leaders per pace group (one doing the first half and the other person doing the second half). - the willingness and ability to motivate the runners in your group along the way. Communication with your group is extremely important. - the willingness and ability to attend ONE Pace Group Team meeting which will be held approximately ten days before the marathon. - the willingness to spend some time at the TRL Pace Group booth at the Portland Marathon expo, answering questions from marathon participants, handing out pacing bands, etc. While this step is optional, we'd encourage you to help out by spending an hour or two at our booth. I will update this post with more information as time goes on, so please check back periodically. In the meantime, to get the ball rolling, at the end of this post is a listing of the pace groups we'd like to fill for 2010. Please PM me or e-mail me with the group you feel you can realistically lead, whether you prefer the first or second slot and your shirt size. I'll do my best to accomodate all requests but ask for a little flexibility on your part as well. Thank you in advance for helping us continue the excellent tradition our club has as marathon pacers!
