The finale of trail running for 2008 is almost here!

The details:
What: Purge and Splurge - Annual Wildwood Trail run
Where: Wildwood Trail, Forest Park, Portland, OR. Meet at the end point for whatever distance you plan to run.*
When: December 31, Meet at the place you plan to finish around 8:30 am. Carpool out to the Newberry end of Wildwood for an 9:00am start with everyone.

How far you want to run will determine your meeting point.

The options are:

*~30 miles: Running the entire trail is 30.11 miles. Meet at the zoo (Vietnam Memorial parking lot) for this option.

*~20 miles: Meet at the NW 53rd Ave trailhead to Wildwood - MAP The point where Wildwood passes 53rd would be a 21 mile run.

*~15 miles: Meet at the bottom of Saltzman, off Hwy 30.

*~10 miles: Meet off Skyline Rd at the top of Springville Rd/Firelane 7/Gas Line Rd - MAP. This option is just over 10 miles.

Food/water
I plan to drop off water, Gatorade, and other aid at the 10 and 20 miles points. You can carry additional supplies if you feel the need, but the reason I drop that stuff off is so anyone wanting to run the distance can travel light.

How long will it take?
It's hard to say. In the past some have broken 4 hours for the full 30 miles, but I know I won't even be thinking about that this year. Keep in mind that trail running is inherently slower than road running - and this is a long one... You certainly don't want to run out of gas and have to experience the "death march".

The questions is who is in, and what distance are you planning on?

30:
Robert
Christy
KellyG
Ed C
Joe Ese
Heather
Scott Baldy
Clover
Larisa
Barry and Lorie from Canada?

20:

15:
Joanna
Hillary
Gary
Amygirl
Julie ?
BrianH
Christophe

10:
Rizzo (not meeting at the finish point, since he's running there)

Running still isn't that very serious.

if I can get the day off, 10 for me. 15 for Dodger.

Aren't there like 15 versions of this going on thanks to Coop?

Torrey:

I would like to do 15 or so. I would propose a 4th group meeting at the bottom of Salzman just off highway 30. If that doesn't happen, I guess I'll do the 10 group and add some extra distance.

I'll add a 15 mile group from Saltzman. I've had it listed in previous years, but I looked at last year and no one signed up for that option.

I haven't been around, but I had launched a lil' webpage (in blog format) to collect loose finish times (not that it'll change anything about the run). You can read more here: http://purgeandsplurge.blogspot.com/, and may be some of you be so kind to comment with your times or email me at olgav100@gmail.com.
I'll see you there, be kind to me when you pass. I'll start early, and finish late:)
