Who - any walking, jogging, running Lizard or lurker + shelter dogs from Multnomah County Animal Shelter. Those seeking to adopt always get pick of the litter.
What - add a 4 legged friend to your daily outting.
Where - April 9th @ PETCO located at 333 S. State Street. I propose we start @ 10:00 (a bit later start to match higher retail/potential adopter traffic.
Why - The dogs love it and the run and socializing helps them locate a forever home. Volunteering is fun!
Getting the dogs there requires a lot of work from volunteers. To assure we have enough people please respond if you plan to attend.

Gosh darn it - that's the day after my knee surgery. I'm truly sorry to be missing this one, Angela,
but we'll add this event into our calendar now we know you've started back up.
See you in May.

Keep an eye on the message board regarding additional outreach dates. It will depend on the interest level of the club.

We prefer to have you run with a shelter dog. The dogs we bring all have to pass dog/dog behavior tests. Asking stressed dogs to stand quietly with a bunch of other stressed dogs is more difficult than one would think. Sometimes adding another dog to the pack could change the dynamics.count me in, can we bring our own pup or do we have to run with the Petco dogs?

Hi Erica, the run can be an out and back or lolipop loop of 5 miles. It really depends on the dog and I won't know who we're brining until the day prior. Basset hound = 1 mile, German Shorthair = lets do the loop again. Chances are you can partner up with other runners or dogs to fit your pace/distance requirments. This sounds fun - I have wanted to do this for awhile. Just so I know how far I need to run before, how far do the dogs usually make it?

Great. I also have a couple of non-lizard friends who would like to join in / meet some more runners. Are they welcome?
you bet!

Taking my MS in stride.
"Once I learned what it meant to push myself, I lost all taste for depriving myself. I want to grow into more of a woman, not find ways to whittle myself down to less...My PRs will never garner attention or generate awards. But when I run I am 100% me - my strengths and weaknesses play out like a cracked-open diary..." - Kristin Armstrong

The other dogs had a great time and gained some great exposure. Thank you Lizard volunteers!
Stay tuned, I'm thinking we'll be doiong the dog run every other month. Watch the message board for details.
