Yoga + Running Retreat: August 10- 13 at Breitenbush Hot Springs

Join us for three days of trail running and restorative yoga. Whether you are a novice runner looking for a structured program or an experienced runner looking to invigorate your training, this retreat will help you meet your goals. This balanced workshop addresses the physical and mental aspects of running. The days include morning trail runs, interactive classes, technique sessions, and restorative yoga, targeted to the needs of runners, led by Sarahjoy Marsh. Participants will leave with a personalized training plan for their next race.

The goal is for runners to learn how to incorporate yoga in to their training routines. The retreat is still primarily a running retreat with trail runs, training classes, and running technique instruction.

This unique workshop is for runners and yoga practitioners of all skill and ability levels. To fully enjoy the experience, you should be able to comfortably run for 30 minutes. As for the yoga, you do not need any prior experience.

Sarahjoy Marsh, MA, E-RYTcertified yoga teacher and author, is a vibrant, compassionate catalyst for transformation. The combination of her ability to identify when a conditioned mind pattern crowds out clear thinking and to inspire the courage to bring insight into action, her knowledge of powerful yoga and mindfulness tools, her perspective on the terrain of the stages of recovery and the tools to use along the way to recovery make her methodology (outlined in her forthcoming book Hunger, Hope & Healing, published by Shambhala Publications, Inc) a comprehensive and effective healing modality. Sarahjoy enthusiastically embraces her students' well- being in a pragmatic yet passionate way, seeing them as their true self, filled with innate potential and a vital, necessary gift to bring to others - that is, their genuine, vulnerable, and radiant self. She is masterful about creating authentic community on a deep level.

Sarahjoy has a Masters in Counseling and has been training yoga teachers, yoga outreach volunteers, and mental health providers, including clinical psychologists and socials workers in yoga therapy tools for 20 years. She is a student and scholar of yoga with 22 years of professional teaching experience and 25 years of yogic study.  Committed to supporting marginalized populations and using yoga for social justice she founded two non-profits. Living Yoga brings yoga to prisons, alcohol and drub rehab centers and transitional facilities. DAYA Foundation teaches yoga and mindfulness tools to those with addiction, anxiety or depression; to those with medical issues such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease; and to others who would not be able to attend yoga classes because of social, financial or physical constraints.

Sarahjoy is a regular retreat teacher at Kripalu Yoga Center and Breitenbush Hot Springs and leads international yoga retreats to India. She resides in Portland, Oregon and maintains a thriving yoga teaching schedule of classes, teacher trainings and private consults.
