Since so many Lizards have been shattering their p.r.s left and right recently, since Diep says he'll retire from racing when he no longer thinks he can p.r., and since Tim and Albert have resorted to reaching into the distant past to compare best performances, I thought it was time to start a personal records thread where we can record our best times (and hopefully update them as needed). The beauty of p.r.s is that they represent competition with ourselves, regardless of what others are running, so don't be shy about posting them, whether you're a "fasthole" or a "slowski" (I hate labels!). I know there are people in this club who have run much faster than I ever have (Foland, Chuck, Danny, Dave Harding, Wendy T. ). This may also cut down on the sandbagging if we can see what people are really capable of

OK, I'll play

5k: good question. I think it was the 19:xx something that I ran for the first leg of the Downtown Du last year (I never run 5k's)

10k: 39:00

15k: 1:00

Half Marathon: 1:28

Marathon: 3:03

50k (Trail, at SOB): 4:57

All of these except the half marathon were set in 2002.

Two elusive marks that I want to beat are sub 5 hrs at the half IM tri distance and sub 3 at the marathon distance.

Very interesting: I just plugged a 3:03 marathon into the McMillan Running Calculator and it spit out 39:00 for 10k and 1:00:26 for 15k. Right on the money! But it also said that I could run a 1:26:46 half marathon. Which is also interesting because I'm pretty confident that I can break my marathon PR, but the idea of running a 1:26 half marathon seems way over my head.

Okay, Joe. I'll post my PRs with disclaimers. This will help motivate me to improve them, for sure!

Marathon - 4:49:39 Newport, 2003 (This is last one I ran -- look for an improvement to be posted after this year's race.)

Half-Marathon - 2:12:39 Eugene, 2007 (My first-ever half, done as a training run for Npt Marathon. Will improve next time.)

10k - 54:something? Free Flight, Newport, 2006 (I'll have to look this up at home, no online results)

5k - 25:08 Beaver Fever Duathlon, 2006 (This was my time for the 2nd 5k of that race -- go figure.)

Scrabble - unknown I haven't kept a record of my best scores.

I may be a slower runner than Joe but I can take him at Scrabble. Consider this a challenge, Mr. Dudman. My Scrabble board, custom racks and clock are at the ready. Come on down to Newport!

Well, for me, my PR's are long gone. So maybe I should take a note from Diep and retire... Naw, I still love to run, even if I resemble a turtle these days!

PR's:

Mile: 4:16 in 1991 (college track)

3,000m: 8:42 indoor track in 1990, college

3200m: 9:32 in 1988, high school track

2 miles: 9:16, road race summer of 1990, during base training for college XC

5K: 14:58, roads in 1995, track: 15:09 sophmore yr college (1990)

5 miles: 24:56, road in 1995

10K: 31:15, roads in 1997, USATF cert.

10K track: 31:43, college 1992

10 miles: 52:30, roads 1996

half marathon: 1:11:01, 1996

marathon: 2:30:04, Grandmas Marathon, Duluth MN, 1996

Looking at these, I should have retired a long time ago, right Diep?!

As the saying goes... what have you done for me lately? laugh.gif

I'm only doing this because I don't do a very good job of keeping track of all these times myself...

100: ?
200: ? (need to look both of those up from HS)
400: 49.8 (track, open) 1994; 47.6 (track, 4x400 relay - 3:17.6) 1995
800: 1:54.7 (track) 1993
1500: 4:09.5 (track; Dragonslayer) 2007
Mile: 4:27.0 (track; Fountain of Youth) 2007
5k: 15:58 (road, 2006); 15:57 (track, 2007), and if I wanted to take credit for it... 15:46 (Foot Traffic Flat 5k, 2012)
4 mile: 20:32 (XC) 2004 (Yes Tim, this was probably a short course. My next best 4 mile is ~21:30 last year)
5 mile: 26:52 (Red Lizard 5 Miler) 2008
8k: 25:54 (USATF 8k Championships, Minto Brown) 2007
10k: 33:34 (Midsummer Meltdown) 2007
12k: 41:29 (Bloomsday) 2007
15k: 52:23 (Shamrock) 2006
Half: 1:13:40 (Vancouver Lake) 2006
Marathon: 2:37:34 (Phoenix) 2017
50k: 4:37:05 (Flagline 2014); 3:59:14 (trail, "unoffcial," Wildwood)

2007 has been a good year
Nice job Sarah! Good year indeed!!!!

Any listing of my PR's would have to include two eras in my life; my original running life and my re-emergence after a break.

My PR for the mile was in high school and just after high school - 1967; @ 4:45.
My high school XC 2.3 mile PR was about 11:55.
I forgot what my timing was for the 400 (then 440). I wasn't the fastest on my track team, but I had a pretty respectable 400 time.

Current life PR's:

5K; 28 something - Run for the Roses (placed 1st in my age group)
5K 29 something - Cinco de Mayo (placed 3rd in my age group)
5K 29 something - Lizard 5 miler (just a happy run)

Not sure about mid distance PR's.

Not talking about my recent marathon times until I get one I'm proud to report.
