Hi all,

It's almost time again for the Great Train Chase.  If you're interested in participating, do you have a preference for when you'd like to do it and where you'd like to start/finish/eat?  Sorry for all of the choices, but I'm trying to find the option that works best for the most people.  You may select as many time slots as you like.  (Like last year, we could do it twice.)

For those unfamiliar, the Great Train Chase is our annual 10-mile run in which we chase various trains around town (including the Holiday Express steam train between OMSI and Oaks Bottom) and then sit down for a meal.  The Chase is designed for 10-minute per mile pace or faster, but is customizable.  Here's a link to last year's thread: http://www.redlizard...showtopic=19209.

The Holiday Express train runs Saturday-Sunday for four weekends, Nov 24th through Dec 17th, from 10am to 8pm each day.  Here's a link to the website: http://www.orhf.org/...oliday-express/ .

An advantage of starting from Sellwood is that we would race the Holiday Express twice.  The upside to a night run is getting to see the lights of the Holiday Express.

Any preferences or thoughts?  I'll make a decision this week and post the full timetable.

The Girls Gift Exchange and Lads Ale Tasting are both on December 17th, so that may not be a great option.

Lompoc in Sellwood/Moreland has expanded, there's plenty of room there. Good for dinner.

The lights are fun, but it's much easier to squeeze in a 10 mile run with lots in attendance if we do a morning slot.....weekend evenings in Dec are so busy at the height of holiday party season!

Thanks, I forgot about the gift exchange/tasting.  To make a mess of the poll, I've added two more days, Sat the 9th and Sun the 10th.  (You can vote more than once.)  I originally didn't include these dates because of the Holiday Half/5K and XC Club Nationals.

Three cheers for the Great Train Chase! I'm excited just thinking about it.

Most of those dates/times work for me, except for Sunday nights and Saturday night of Dec 9th. (I tried to vote via the survey, but couldn't submit it due to technical difficulties. I think my work computer is conspiring against me.)

In my opinion, the grandeur of the Holiday Express Train is best experienced at night!
