Collegiate (Div 3) outdoor track season is now halfway through.

Here in Portland, we are unusually fortunate in that many of the local meets are open to individuals and club members. This is simply not the case in most of the rest of the country.

The season kicked off on March 3, and lasts into May. Below are all races I know of in Oregon that are open to post-collegiate club members. Registration information is on Direct Athletics. You can also go there to look up last year's results, though some meets change names from year to year, which can make such searches difficult.

The Portland Track Festival also has options if you meet the seed time. Talk to me about those.

04/21/2018 2018 Cougar Open (this is in Oregon City, at CCC campus, I think)
04/27/2018 Oregon State High Performance Meet (in Corvallis; note; this is a Friday night)
04/27/2018 Pacific Twilight Invitational (Note: this is Friday night.)
05/05/2018 Linfield Open

So, that's a lot of options. Who's up for one of them? This is more fun with a group!

The Direct Athletics site has a large database of meets, and usually with registration options and links to meet info. You can filter searches by state to see all the Oregon meets. https://www.directat...ing_meets.html#

It's a simple question of weight ratios

Bump. I've posted new meets. The next one up is Pacific Open. There will be a low-key 5000 for those who want to try their hands at it.

I was thinking about running the 5,000m at the Pacific Open on 03/31/2018, but it's the same day as the TRL awards banquet. I didn't see a schedule on Direct Athletics to know if there is 100% direct conflict. Anyone have the meet information?

I'd be surprised if it's not over by that time. But you can email the race director and ask.

Bump. We had a Lizard set a strong time last week at the Pacific Open. Who's up for the next meet(s)?

Sadly, the next two are opposite the start of the summer series. But if you need a seed time for a later meet, time is running out. Talk to me at Duniway, and be prepared to register immediately after. Linfield will probably have the better field, but let's get Lizards to one or the other. There are three meets next weekend. Registration deadlines are very shortly after track.

My suggestion is the Jenn Boynman Invitational. It has the latest registration deadline (Weds) and minimum seed times that are reasonable. But it is dead opposite Dogwood Dash.

Who's interested?

So, who is going to be there? My plan is to run (walk!) Dogwood Dash, so nobody else can be last in the first race of the summer series, then head for McMinville. I know we have at least one Lizard doing her track debut there. Any others?

What's a bit of wind and rain? Three Lizards (Caitlin, Tay, Josie) got three really good performances, even as the storm was moving in, big-time.

There are at least three more chances to strut your stuff on the track (and kick some collegiate butt in the process). Watch this space! And congrats to three really good performance under seriously sub-optimal conditions.

I'm interested in the 5,000m at the 4/21 Cougar Open and 5/5 Linfield Open (those are the two you mentioned at track, right?).

It was a good night for Lizards at the Cougar Open. Despite some logistical issues (the meet got more than an hour ahead of schedule, which meant that not everyone was on site early enough for a full warmup, we had five runners present: Chris, Steve, Josie, Tay, and Janne.

The college season ends, for us, at Linfield Open, on May 5. Who's in?

Rick
