Friday is the Tour de Goose Grand Finale! Stage 8 is the Goozard Challenge, and Stage 9 is the Potluck Barbecue Awards Ceremony!  Both will be held at Picnic Area A of Sellwood Park.  The Summer Fulton run passes this every week, it's on the left of the gravel road past the tennis courts right after you enter the park from the church.  Google map link.

Please Note!

1) Location Change to Sellwood Park for 2014!

2) Each team will need a smartphone with a QR reader app!

Stage 8 - Goozard Challenge. This year the Goozard Challenge goes high tech!  Many of the clues will require the team to read a QR code with a smartphone.  Each team will need a smartphone with a QR reader app.  You can either keep your team from previous stages, or we can shuffle as needed to make sure each team has a smartphone.  The ideal team size is 4, but 3-5 will work.  The Challenge will be a mad hunt of puzzles, map reading, physical challenges, and other mayhem.  Don't miss out!  There will also be a short non-competitive abbreviated course for walkers.

Stage 9 - Potluck Barbecue Awards Ceremony Downhill Mile. The club will provide burgers, buns, and some beverages, and we're asking participants to contribute a potluck dish to round it out.  BYOB.  Also, I need someone else to coordinate the barbecue, as I am spending every spare minute until Friday finishing up the Goozard!  If you can help, please let me know!

Where: Sellwood Park, Picnic Area A.  Google map link.  You can park at either the north parking lot or on the street by the church.

When: Friday, July 25th. Registration is at Picnic Area A from 5:45pm to 6:00pm. We will form up into teams and have a staggered start with the first departure at 6:00pm.

Course: Two to five miles around Sellwood Park and the surrounding area.

Aid Station:  None on course, but the potluck barbecue after will have plenty of refreshments!

Who: Anyone and everyone. Even if you haven't competed in the Tour yet, it's not to late to start. Each stage is a race unto itself.

Cost: For club members the Tour de Goose is $5 per day or $10 for all days. For non-members the cost is $10 per day.

Points: The Goozard Challenge will earn you 50 to 100 points.

Loot: Sorry, no medals for this stage.  But we will award the Polka Dot Jersies and raffle off goodies from our sponsors.

:hyper: Volunteers: If you don't want to race and want to help out, let me know in advance. We need help with registration and supervising special challenges on the course.  If you do help, you receive 50 points towards the overall competition.

Vive le Tour! See you Friday evening.

Life is short and we have not too much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel the way with us.
Oh, be swift to love. Make haste to be kind.

Looking forward to the Goozard and the post-event BBQ.  I will volunteer to bring a bunch o' beer.  And probably something else as well.  Will just need to think about what side that will be...

Come on Lizards! Need a few more potluck items. The club will provide hamburger, veggie burgers and hamburger buns. Anyone willing to bring condiments (ketchup, mustard)? Also hamburger "fixins" (sliced onions, pickles, tomatoes)?

If I had some ham I could make ham and eggs if I had some eggs.

Jeff

Note that the plan is to bring some nice smoked brats (and some veggie options as well), so the only condiments needed are mustard and kraut and maybe relish.  Or whatever folks like on their sausages.

I have an abundance of cucumbers.  They will be turned into some sort of potluck item TBD.  Or.... I'll stop by the store and grab a salad of some sort if time is running short.

People on the fence?  Come out and play.  This is an epically fun event for all abilities.

I have a 93 year old mother-in-law birthday party to go to at 3:00. I'll try to make it if timing allows.

Potluck item, TBD, will be picked up on the fly.
